Pyin U Lwin town situated ( elevation 1050 m ), 69 km east of Mandalay, stately colonial-era buildings on the delay, on the town’s main street. Originally a small Shan Danu village, Pyin U Lwin was renamed Maymyo ( May- town ) in 1887 after British Colonel May, of the 5th Bengal Infantry, who was stationed here.
From 1896 Pyin U Lwin was a British hill station, and during those colonial days an influx of south Asians moved here. Today more than 5000 Nepalis and 10,000 Indians live in the town. At that town have Botanical Gardens ( National Kandawgyi gardens ), Chinese temple, Nanmyint tower, Pyitawpyan Pagoda and Pwe kauk fall, Paeik chin myaung fall and pyin u lwin’ market.
